Selasih
Selasih company — Petaling Jaya

Est. 2018 · Petaling Jaya

A small advisory with a long memory
for the streets of PJ.

We know these neighbourhoods the way people who have lived in them do — not from listings, but from years of walking the same roads.

Our Story

How Selasih began.

Selasih grew out of a practical frustration. The founders — two individuals who had themselves navigated the rental market in Petaling Jaya after relocating from abroad — found that the information available to incoming tenants rarely reflected the reality of living in a neighbourhood. Listings described rooms; they said little about the character of the street, the proximity of a morning market, or the reliability of a landlord.

The name Selasih — the Malay word for sweet basil, a plant found in shaded gardens across suburban Selangor — was chosen deliberately. It speaks to the kind of residence we are drawn to: unhurried, green, and a little sheltered from the main road.

Since 2018, we have helped over 200 families and individuals find homes in Petaling Jaya and the surrounding districts. We have stayed small on purpose. The work we do depends on depth of knowledge, not volume of transactions.

Our Mission

Helping people settle well.

We believe the process of finding a home should feel considered — not urgent. Our work is to slow things down enough for a client to make a decision they are genuinely comfortable with, in a residence that fits how they actually live.

We do not represent landlords. We do not take referral fees from property owners. Our fee comes from the client, and that shapes everything about how we advise.

"A good tenancy begins with an honest description of the property."

— Founding Principle, Selasih 2018

How We Work

Standards we hold ourselves to.

Every property pre-visited

We will not add a property to a client shortlist without a member of our team having visited it first. Written notes are shared before any viewing is scheduled.

Client-only representation

We do not accept payments from landlords or property owners. Our fee structure means our advice is shaped entirely by what is best for the tenant.

Lease review as standard

Tenancy agreements are reviewed by our team before signing. We highlight unusual clauses, negotiate where there is scope, and explain what you are committing to.

Discreet client handling

Client details are shared only with parties directly involved in a search. We do not circulate contact information or share client preferences with third parties.

Honest shortlists only

We share our genuine assessment of each property — including concerns. If something is not right for a client, we say so. There is nothing to gain by recommending a poor fit.

Post-move-in availability

We remain available after the move-in is complete — for minor questions, practical referrals, or simply to check in. A new home takes a few weeks to settle into.

Residence advisory in Petaling Jaya and Selangor

Selasih operates in one of Malaysia's most established residential markets — the older parts of Petaling Jaya, where low-rise housing, mature trees, and walkable streets persist alongside newer development. The area draws professionals, returning Malaysians, and international families who want a residential setting with genuine character rather than a high-rise apartment tower.

Our knowledge of the market extends across Section 16, the residential pockets near Damansara Heights, SS2, Taman Jaya, and the garden-facing stretches along Jalan Damansara. We understand which buildings are well-maintained, which landlords respond promptly, and which streets stay quiet on weekday mornings.

For families relocating from abroad or from other parts of Malaysia, the practical considerations are considerable — international school proximity, access to weekend markets, highway access, and the rhythm of a particular neighbourhood. We bring all of this into the shortlisting process so that every viewing is a genuinely useful one.
